The Certified Manager (CMTM) certification is appropriate for all managers.

The CM program is a general management certification that covers more than 60 Core Competencies that are needed by managers at all levels and in all industries. The program consists of three courses:

  • Management Skills I: Foundations of Management (MS I) forms the foundation of the CM program. The course covers fundamental leadership and management practices, diversity and global issues.

  • Management Skills II: Planning and Organizing (MS II) expands on concepts introduced in MS I. The course covers planning and organizing, which are 2 of the the 4 core managerial functions.

  • Management Skills III: Leading and Controlling (MS III) expands on concepts introduced in MS I & MS II. The course covers the remaining 2 core managerial functions - leading and controlling.

Each course includes a study manual, online learning resources, practice exams, and a certification exam.

CM certification is earned by meeting eligibility requirements for education and experience and passing all three certification exams. Successful completion of the CM exams is a reliable indicator that an individual has the skills that successful leaders and managers need.

Earning CM Certification is a 6 Step Process

1) Application

Entry into the program begins with an approved application. The application serves as an audit of the applicant’s education and experience and determines eligibility to take the CM exams. Applications may be submitted  online, faxed, or mailed to ICPM.

2) Payment

You may pay for the CM program either by purchasing the certification bundle or by purchasing individual course modules. The certification bundle is substantially discounted, so the cost of the program will vary based on how you choose to pay. Pricing for customers outside the USA is higher. Click here for more details on pricing options.

ICPM accepts payment by Visa, MasterCard and American Express cards, as well as by check and purchase order (with credit approval). Certification fees must be paid in advance.

3) Study

Training for the CM Exams may be accomplished through self-directed study or group (classroom) study. Classroom programs are offered by select colleges/universities, private training organizations, National Management Association (NMA) chapters, and corporate training departments.

4) Examination

The three CM exams coincide with content covered in the 3 CM study manuals. All three exams must be passed in order to earn the CM certification. To earn the CMAR certification, the Animal Resource (AR) exam must be passed in addition to the 3 CM exams.

5) Recognition

After successfully passing the CM exams, ICPM will assist you in being recognized for your accomplishment by executive and senior management, colleagues, clients, vendors, and others in the business community.

6) Recertification

Annual recertification keeps the CM certification active. CMs must re-certify each January for the following year. In return, they receive a number of benefits from ICPM.
